Top 9 Movie Theaters

From Amanda Galiano, About.com Guest

Little Rock has lots of great choices for seeing the latest flick and hottest films. We have theaters that specialize in art movies, Hollywood blockbusters and even an IMAX. Grab your popcorn and head to the movies!

1. The Market Street Theater

This is the place for people who love "art" films. These are not the blockbuster hits of Hollywood, but critically acclaimed films that don't get shown elsewhere. They also show independent movies and cultural films. It's a great place to see something different. Ticket prices range from $6-8. They serve beer and wine with concessions. Located on Market and Merrill Drive (501-312-8900).

2. Rave Motion Pictures

This is a mega-theater with 82,000 square feet of movies. Offers DLP screens and stadium seating. They play all the latest Hollywood blockbusters. Admission is $7.25-11.25. Located on 18 Colonel Glenn Road (501-687-0499).

3. Dickinson Chenal 9 & IMAX

This is Little Rock's newest theater. They have one IMAX screen which shows first run Hollywood releases. Stadium seating and DLP screens. Tickets are $6-7 for the regular screens and $13.50 for the IMAX. Located at 17825 Chenal Parkway (501-821-2616).

4. Aerospace Education Center's IMAX Theater

The IMAX screen is six stories high with a six-channel, 16,500 watt sound system that brings you inside the movie. The films are mostly documentaries centering on aerospace exploration, but unrelated movies are sometimes shown. It's something you need to experience at least once. Tickets are around $7.50. Located at the Aerospace Education Center near the airport on 3301 E. Roosevelt Road (501-376-4232).

5. Dickinson Lakewood 8

First run Hollywood movies in North Little Rock. Tickets range from $6.75-8.75. Located at 2939 Lakewood Village in North Little Rock (501-758-5354).

6. Cinemark Movies 10

Looking for some cheap movies? This is the place to go! This is a great theater to catch second-run films for just $1 on weekdays. Many of the films shown are already out on video or will soon be released but why rent them when you can see them on the big screen for the same price? Located on 4188 McCain Blvd in North Little Rock (1-800-FANDANGO Exp Code 1436#).

7. UA Breckenridge Village 12

Great seats, sound and a curved screen. This is pretty much a standard UA theater although I think it has more leg room than some. It's a great place to see all the Hollywood blockbuster films on 12 screens. Tickets range from $5-8.75. Located at I-430 and Rodney Parham at 1200 Breckenridge Drive (501-224-0990).

8. Cinematown Riverdale 10

First-run Hollywood releases at a standard theater. Tickets from $6-7.50. Located at 2600 Cantrell in the RIverdale shopping center (501-296-9955).

9. Silver Screen Theater

This one is in Cabot and a place to see first-run Hollywood movies. It's a neat looking theater that reminds me of old theaters. Their slogan is, "The way theaters used to be, only better." They have a great website.
