What:

Mount Magazine is the highest point in the state. It's peak is 2,753 feet above sea level. The mountain actually has two peaks, Signal Hill (2,753 feet) and and Mossback Ridge which reaches (2,700 feet). It's one of the few places in the state to boast hang gliding, hiking, backpacking, biking, horseback riding and camping all in one location.

Camping, lodge and cabins:

Eighteen campsite are available. Campsite have water and electrical hookups. Shower facilities available. Prices from $24-30.

The rustic-style lodge offers 60 guest rooms, a 1,325-foot indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and gift shop. Forty rooms offer balconies and 17 rooms include spa tubs.

Mount Magazine also offers cabin rentals. They have 13 cabins ranging from 873-square-foot one-bedroom units to a 1,669-square-foot three-bedroom unit.

Prices vary. Check their fee schedule.

Other hospitalities include the Skycrest Restaurant, conference centers and a visitor's center.

Adventure Options:

Like most state parks, Mount Magazine has experienced certified interpreters that put on regular programs. However, you can go off on your own. There is, of course, rock climbing, and many trails for hiking, biking, horses and ATVs. It's one of the most popular places in the state for hang gliding. Guided ATV tours are available
