Lake Degray

Lake Degray State Park

Arkansas Department of Parks

What:

Degray is one of the most beautiful locations in Arkansas. The 13,000 acre lake is located on the Caddo River, in the foothills of the Ouchaita Mountains. You can find almost every type of outdoor recreation and wildlife Arkansas has to offer within a short distance.

Popular pastimes on Degray are fishing, water sports, scuba, swimming, hiking, biking, horseback riding and golf.

Degray is well known for their interpretative programs and special events.

Where:

Degray is about an hour away from Little Rock in Bismark. Take Exit #78 off I-30 at Caddo Valley/Arkadelphia and travel seven miles north on Scenic 7 Byway.

Eagle Awareness:

I first came to know Degray through their excellent Eagles Etcetera programs in January. They have the longest running Eagle Conservation celebration in the state. Park interpreters, local falconry experts and the zoo team up to teach people about the wild birds that call Arkansas home, and their importance to the state's ecology.

It is a great time to go on a lake wildlife tour and see some eagles nesting.
