Forbidden City Chinese Restaurant

Quick Review

About.com Rating three out of Five

By Amanda Galiano, About.com

While the Forbidden City Chinese Restaurant isn't the best Chinese food in Little Rock, it's really good food and it's much better than what you'd expect to find a mall food court. It's a great place to gather some energy to finish your shopping trip or make a special trip if you want Chinese cusine.

Guide Review

Personally, I love the Forbidden City. The atmosphere is great. One minute you're surrounded by The Gap and Chick-Fil-A, and then suddenly you're in a quiet Asian oasis. The restaurant is a bit aged but the art and colors are still relaxing. The service is always great. The waitors and staff are always polite and accommodating. It's far different than what you expect from a mall restaurant.

I also really enjoy the food. I wouldn't call it the best Chinese food in Little Rock but it's the best value. Prices range from $5.25 for fried rice to $9.95 for half a Peking Duck. They have all the traditional Chinese fare on the menu and $2 extra buys soup, an appetizer and tea. General Tso's ($7.95) chicken earns top marks as does the Szechuan Chicken ($8.50) and the Sesame String Beans ($6.25).

You can also have food delivered to your door for no extra charge if you don't feel like braving Park Plaza mall.

Location & Phone Number

The Forbidden City is located at 6000 W. Markham in Park Plaza Mall. It's on the bottom floor in the food court area. 501-663-9099.
