Arkansas may not have a lot of beer culture, but what it has is pretty good. If you're looking for a good IPA, Ale or whatever else your taste buds desire, one of these local hangouts is bound to fit the bill.
1. Boscos

Boscos calls itself "the restaurant for beer lovers." They have their own in-house brews, but also have other Southern varieties on tap. The beer menu at Boscos does alternate a bit. Their beers include some IPAs and Ales. The Bombay IPA is a local fave. They get pretty good reviews from visiting beer connoisseurs and from locals. Visit their site for plenty of information about any of their beers or just grab a sampler platter and try a bunch of them out.

2. Vino's
Vino's has an onsite microbrewery that produces about 10 different beers. You can get sampler tray with some of their fresh-brewed varieties. Among their specialties are 6 Bridges Cream Ale, Ouachita ESB, Quawpaw Quarter Porter, Aphrodite Red Ale and Pinnacle IPA. You can find a full description of all their beers by visiting their site.923 West 7th St(map)

3. Flying Saucer

The Flying Saucers offers a comfy seating area, over 100 beers and is a favorite local hangout. The Flying Saucer is a chain of beer bars but it seems to fit right into the downtown area. My friend Michael gave me a quote about the saucer that sums up local opinion, "[the saucer] is never a bad idea for a beer drinker. Well, actually probably occasionally a bad idea, the beers might be too delicious."

4. Diamond Beer Brewery
Diamond Bear Brewing company is a commercial brewery located in downtown Little Rock. Diamond Bear started brewing on September 21, 2000, and started distribution on October 17 with the Flying Saucer. They won a Silver Medal at the 2003 Great American Beer Festival Competition for their Pale Ale. They give tours of the brewery every Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. They'll also do private tours and parties.323 Cross St (map)

5. Cregeen's
Cregeen's is an Irish pub with 29 beers on tap including, of course, many Irish stouts. Average draft price is $4. The selection of Irish whiskey is also excellent. I guess if you're a drinker of any kind, this would be a good place to go. Located in North Little Rock.301 Main St (map)

6. Fermentables
If the local brews aren't up to your standards or you just want to experiment, why not try brewing your own? Fermentables has everything you need to get started making your own beer or wine.3915 Crutcher St (map)
