Little Rock soil is diverse. Our weather is crazy. Who knows what will grow here? The best way to find out what plant is right for your yard is to find someone at the nursery and talk about your specifics. Some nurseries will even test a soil sample for you. Some will design your landscape into a garden paradise. These are my favorite nurseries in the area.

8. Home Depot / Lowe's / Wal-MartOne of the bad things about the mass stores is that they often put plants out that really shouldn't be planted yet, and sometimes the staff isn't trained well. If you do your own research and know what to look for, you can save some money because many plants are cheaper at big box stores. However, especially if you are new to gardening, you can waste more than you will save on plants that won't thrive. Many times the local nurseries will have specials or loyalty programs that make their prices lower than Home Depot, so don't just assume the prices will be higher at a local nursery.
