Go Green In Little Rock

Recycling is one small step you can take to help the environment. Little Rock tries to make recycling easy with curbsite recycling and several sites where you can you drop off your recyclables. All you have to do is separate them from your trash.

Residents living within city limits are furnished with a recycling bin. What can you place in this bin?

Plastic: Clear or green bottles; translucent milk jugs (no yellow ones), any plastic item with neck smaller than its base.

Paper: Newspaper and inserts, flattened corrugated cardboard boxes (the cardboard with ridges between layers), brown paper grocery bags, junk mail and magazines (including all those catalogs you get that take up tons of landfill space).

Cans: Aluminum cans, pans and foil (clean pans and foil), steel beverage & food containers.

Glass: Clear, green or brown food and beverage containers.

Curbside recycling is picked up on the same day as your regular trash. Items do not need to be separated. You just place the recycling bin with your items next to your trash. The sanitation workers generally will not pick up items that do not fit in the bin. If your items are not picked up, you can drop it off at one of the many recycling centers around the city. For items too large to fit in bins, you can visit one of the many recycling centers in the city. They take the same items as above.

There are some aluminum recycling plants that pay for recyclables, including A-1 Aluminum Recycling Center on 1300 E 9th St (call 501-372-5224).

Little Rock does not have a bottle deposit program at this time.
