Little Rock First Date Restaurants

Fun and Casual Restaurants For A First Date

By Amanda Galiano, About.com

I think a first date restaurant should be fun and casual. We have fine dining, romantic restaurants for special occasions too. On a first date, you want something more laid back.

1. Damgoode Pies

If you want something fun and easy to eat, pizza is the thing and Damgoode is some of the best in the city. I love the funky Kavanaugh location for a date, but the newer Cantrell location is bigger and probably more laid back.
2701 Kavanaugh Blvd or 6706 Cantrell Rd
501-664-2239 for both locations

2. Juanita's

Juanita's is known for their music more than their food, but the food is ok and the atmosphere is fun, even without the music. Music normally starts around 9-10 p.m., but you don't want to start a romantic dinner date then, as the kitchen closes for dinner around the same time. Another plus, it's in downtown Little Rock, but far enough from the River Market that you don't have to deal with as much traffic (parking can still be a pain).

3. Creegen's Irish Pub

Creegen's has a fun Irish Pub atmosphere. The food is also Irish themed, and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. Hey, if anything, the Irish know how to have a good time!
Located in North Little Rock, but Argenta is pretty romantic.

4. Vino's

Vino's is another one of those "known for their music" restaurants, but Vino's is also known for their beer. If you have a date that appreciates a good beer with a good pizza, Vino's is for you. The fun atmosphere and "beer sampler" platter are sure to inspire some conversation.

5. Shogun's Japanese Steakhouse

This was one of the first hibachi grills in Little Rock and is still a favorite. I think the atmosphere of a hibachi grill is lots of fun and will inspire conversation and food sharing on a first date.

6. The River Market

The River Market has no shortage of fun and funky restaurants to bring your date too. There's Gusano's for pizza, Rumba for Mexican food, Flying Fish, Sticky Fingers and even Iriana's isn't that far. You name it. The River Market eateries are, for the most part, made for first dates. They're causal, fun and unique.

7. Brazilian or Indian Food?

If you're adventurous, try something new or different on your first date. Taste of India is a great Indian restaurant (perfect if your date is a vegetarian and you're not). It's got a nice atmosphere and trying something new inspires, again, food sharing and conversation. Cafe Bossa Nova is a great Brazilian cafe in Little Rock. Brazilian Food isn't as different as Indian food, but the same concept applies! Try Cafe Bossa Nova if you're adventurous, but not that much.
