Ya Ya's would be a great place for a date or professional lunch. They serve a European themed menu which includes pizza, pastas, some seafood and appetizers. Moderately expensive.

Ya Ya's - Good date or professional lunch spot (03/09)

I visited the fairly new Ya Ya's (in some markets, this chain spells it "Yia Yia's") in the Promenade at Chenal because I had heard rave reviews about it. I was not disappointed.

The atmosphere is a mix of modern and rustic, which sounds odd but it's actually quite nice. It would be a great place for a romantic dinner date. I was there during lunch and there was a decent sized crowd.

The menu features pastas, pizzas, appetizers, seafood, etc. It's bistro food. Prices average $6-10 for appetizers and $15-20 for entrees. Pizzas are $10. The two pasta dishes we sampled (angel hair and gnocchi) were ~$12. Bread is served with a nice baba ghanoush.

The angel hair was a little overcooked, but the tomato, basil, garlic sauce was delicious. I would order it again. The gnocchi with Gorgonzola cream sauce was cooked perfectly. The sauce was wonderful! It was probably the best gnocchi that I've had in a restaurant.

The wait staff was perhaps overattentive, but it looked as if they were training. We'll see if the service continues to be good, but for now they get four stars for service.

Yaya's was sadly a ""nanas"". The food is overpriced and bland. Sadly, Chillis does it much better for half the price. Still wondering why Euro was in the title, except perhaps as an excuse for raising prices. The soups are served in large bowls, that would hold a hearty serving--unfortunately, they chose to leave it mostly empty. The salads are high on presentation, with the ingredients left unmixed--fine perhaps for a photo, but if I were going to mix my own, I'd have stayed home. It sported a thimble full of bleu cheese, and about a quarter-breast of bland chicken. The only things that I can recommend are the humus appetizer, and the wine serving was generous.
