Guide Review (Chenal Location)
The decor reminds me of the soda shoppe in "Happy Days." The brightly colored walls are decorated with cutouts of Marylin Monroe, James Dean and even Bill Clinton. The waiters are generally friendly and more than eager to be of service. They can even get your kids crayons and coloring pages.
The food is typical diner food. They have mostly burgers, fries and salads. Burgers are about $6 with fries, kids food is around $4, shakes are $4. You can check The Purple Cow menu for more specifics. It's not gourmet food but it's good food nonetheless and better than some "burger joints."
What diner experience would be complete without a malted? The Purple Cow is most famous for their milkshakes. That's what everyone who's ever reviewed them talks about. They do make a killer milkshake. They even make a purple one. My personal fave is the peanut butter but the chocolate malted is good as well. The milkshakes are large enough for two (and they'll let you split it) and very, very thick. They also don't cost much more than TCBY and they are lots better. If you drop in, you have to splurge for one.
Overall this is a fun place for lunch or a family dinner. It's a great treat for kids during the summer or after school. It's also fun for grownups who might have visited a soda fountain when they were kids.
