Guide Review - 04/13/08
I say guilty because this is traditional Tex-Mex. There is nothing healthy about it. Everything is covered with cheese, sour cream or guacamole. Even the salads aren't healthy here. It's the traditional "goo on a plate" type of Tex-Mex that Americans love, even though most foodies won't admit it.
That being said the food is pretty good. My favorites include their burrito dinners, including the chimichangas, and the cheese enchiladas.
The cheese dip is legendary. It's not the best in Little Rock, but it has a very unique flavor. Once you taste it, you'll never forget it. You will probably want to taste it again. It's something people who move away from Little Rock often comment on when they come back for a visit.
The prices are great. A traditional combo meal is $7.85. They have combo platters that feed 2-3 for $15.99. A lunch special is around $7.
The new location looks a bit little more upscale than the old location I remember. They have done away with the brightly color sombreros and other stereotypical Mexican decor. Instead, the inside is more subtle and art in traditional Mexican colors decorates the wall.
The service was great on my visit. My waitress even brought me an unrequested to-go cup filled with punch so I could bring it home to enjoy with my leftovers.
