Dining in Downtown Little Rock

Ethnic Restaurants in Downtown and the River Market

Downtown has become the focus of Little Rock and new restaurants pop up everyday. Navigating the food downtown can be a problem to the uninitiated as it seems there's a pizza joint, a bar or a grill on every corner. There are a lot of small chain restaurants downtown and a few locally owned businesses. Some of my faves include Rumba, The Flying Fish, The Flying Saucer (great beer), Vino's (great live music & beer), The Italian Couple and Juanita's (great live music).

Japanese

Hanaroo Sushi Bar
205 W Capitol Ave
11 am-2 pm and 5-9 pm Monday-Friday
501-301-7900
The best place to get sushi downtown and one of the better places in Little Rock. Fun decor and a sushi bar.

Italian

Capriccio Grill Italian Steakhouse
3 Statehouse Plaza (Peabody Hotel)
6:30am-9 p.m. Sunday-Friday, Friday-Saturday open until 10 pm, limited menu at some times during the day
501) 906-4000
Steaks and other American options accompany some Italian dishes. The focus is more the grill than the Italian part. Expensive.

Don Vicci's Italian Ristorante
211 W. Capitol Ave
7 am-3 pm Monday-Friday
501-372-3700
Don Vicci's is the perfect place to go for lunch downtown. Their Italian is cheese laden and saucy, not light by far. However, it is pretty predictable and always decent. The place is pretty casual for those quick on the go lunches. Pricing is a steal.

Gusano's Pizza
313 President Clinton Ave
11 am - whenever Monday-Friday, 11 am - 1 am on Saturday
501-374-1441
Famous for their Chicago-style pizza, they also make a great thin crust. Fun location right on the market and a great place to watch football games. Pricing is a steal.

Iriana's Pizza
103 W Markham St
501-374-3656
Iriana's makes pizza unlike anywhere else in Little Rock. Their sauce is unique and their crust is thick and delicious. Pricing is a steal.

The Italian Couple
1900 West 3rd
11 am-2 pm Tuesday-Friday and 5-10 pm Tuesday-Saturday
501-372-4448
Great, authentic Italian food and a favorite local spot for lunch. You can see the Capitol from the parking lot. Pricing is moderate.

Vino's
923 West 7th
501-375-8466
Known for their live music and microbrews, Vino's also makes a decent pizza. The fun atmosphere often features local bands. They were one of the first to offer microbrews in Little Rock. Pricing is a steal.

Mexican/Latin

Rumba/Revolution
300 President Clinton Avenue
11 am-11 pm
501-823-0090
Spicy "Mexi-Cuban" dishes in a fun atmosphere. Moderate pricing.

Cotija's
406 Louisiana St
11 am-7 pm Monday-Friday; 11 am-5 pm Saturday
501-244-0733
Owned by the family that owns La Hacienda, this place offers a huge menu with all your authenic Mexican faves. Moderate pricing.

Flying Burrito
300 President Clinton Ave. 11am-12:00am, some nights late night window open until 3 am 501-372-7272 Made to order burritos and other Mexican dishes. Very casual "assembly line" ordering but great location. Free wi-fi. Pricing is a steal.

Juanita's
501-372-1228
11 am-2 am Monday-Friday, 5-9 pm Monday-Thursday, 5-10 pm. Friday and 11 am-10 pm Saturday
Best known for the music, the also serve a decent Tex-Mex. It is one great place to hear live music downtown and on Friday and Saturday night, it's really hopping. Pricing is moderate.
