Acadia in Hillcrest

Acadia in Hillcrest

Amanda Galiano
Hillcrest and the Heights offer a few great dining choices but they don't have the variety you can find downtown. Many of the restaurants in the area are consistent, older establishments ran by locals. Among my favorites in the area are Damgoode Pies, the Oyster Bar and Canon Grill.

Fine Dining:

Acadia
3000 Kavanaugh Blvd.
11 am-2 pm, 5:30-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday
Acadia has a Cajun flair and is what I would term casual yet fine dining. Great soup an extensive wine list. Moderate pricing.

Ferneau
2601 Kavanaugh Blvd.
5:30-10 pm Tuesday-Saturday
501-603-9208
Ferneau is fine dining at it's best. They have what is classed as New American cuisine. Pricey.

So Restaurant-Bar
3610 Kavanaugh Blvd.
501-663-1464
Fresh Seafood and Oyster Bar Daily. Fine dining with a French flare.

Vieux Carre
2721 Kavanaugh Blvd.
501-663-1196
11 am-2 pm Monday-Sunday, 5-close Monday-Saturday
The name is inspired by the French Quarter in New Orleans and so is the food. Great seafood. Full bar. Pricey.

Ciao Baci
605 Beechwood
11 am-2 pm, 5-10 pm Monday-Saturday for dinner, Bar stays open until "whenever"
501-603-0238
Great tapas and seafood served in an eccletic and appetizing manner. Expensive.

American:

This chain offers bread, sandwiches and fresh pastries. Pricing is a steal.

Cheers
2010 N. Van Buren St
11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday
501-663-5937
Cheers is American but it has Cajun tendencies and you'll find an excellent Creole here. Moderate pricing.

The Oyster Bar
3003 West Markham Street
11 am-10pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday 501-666-7100
They have a great gumbo in a rustic atmosphere. One of my favorite places to get lunch in the city. Pricing is a steal.
