West Little Rock
- Pleasant Valley
Pleasant Valley is the quintessential high class Little Rock neighborhood. Here, you'll find both old and new money and modern houses. Nearby is a golf course and a country club.
- Hickory Creek
Hickory Creek is located near Pleasant Valley and has the same kind of housing and feel.
- Chenal Valley
West Little Rock has grown by leaps and bounds these past few years and Chenal is one areas that has seen enormous growth. Located near the Chenal Country Club, Chenal Valley has golf courses and beautiful new houses.
- Brodie Creek/Woodland's Edge
Brodie Creek is west of Interstate 430 and Bowman Road. It has a unique feel and is not as stuffy as Pleasant Valley or as trendy as Chenal Valley.
- Otter Creek
Located in southwest Little Rock, Otter Creek is a planned recreational community. They have gated security, a racquet club, swimming pools, nature trails, playgrounds, an elementary school and more.
- River Market District
There is very little housing around this area, but some loft apartments are available. Most of what you'll find here is the River Market, some hot local bars and restaurants and some unique shops.
Hillcrest is the area west of downtown along Markham Street. The Hillcrest neighborhood dates back to the 1890s and is said to be Little Rock's oldest neighborhood. You won't find many gaudy new mansions but you will find beautiful turn of the century homes and cottages.
Hillcrest and the Heights are often grouped together but the Heights has a feel of its own. It is north of Hillcrest and dates from the 1920s and 1930s. You'll find leafy, well kept lawns, small cottages, interesting shops and peaceful streets.
- Cammack Village
Cammack Village is located next to the Heights. Cammack Village is an "incorporated community." What does that mean? If I told you, I'd have to kill you. Only kidding! The Village is a city in itself with beautiful real estate and a close knit community.
This area is filled with apartments, condos and luxurious modern housing. It's on the river so it has beautiful views and is just a few miles west of downtown. There's a harbor here in case you have a spare yacht you want to launch, as many residents do.
- Quapaw Quarter
The Quapaw Quarter is a section of restored 19th-century homes around MacArthur Park and the Governor's Mansion. Some of the homes are open for tours, but most are owned and lived in. This site is famous for the preservation of these historic homes.
- University Park
University Park is the area of really nice houses near the malls. Hubert "Geese" Ausbie (Harlem Globetrotter) lived there at one point and his house would always be amazingly lit at Christmas time. The houses in the neighborhood follow suite and are always nicely kept.
Lakewood is near McCain Mall. It was constructed around several man-made lakes and has some of the city's nicest homes.
- Park Hill
Park Hill is located between between downtown North Little Rock and the city's outer edges with many tree-shaded sidewalks. This historic neighborhood dating back to the World War II era.
Mabelvale is noted for its great schools. It's located on the outskirts of Southwest Little Rock. Mabelvale is more "rural" than the Chenal area and boasts a quieter, more laid back lifestyle.
Many choose to commute from Conway to Little Rock. Conway boasts it is "near the crowd without being in it." Conway has its own school district and is just about 30 minutes from Little Rock.
Maumelle is just across the river from Little Rock, but it has a much different feel. It's like being in the suburbs. With parks, bike paths, walking trails, lakes, playgrounds, country clubs, two golf courses, a community center and diverse shopping and dining so easily accessible, Maumelle truly has it all for new businesses and families to grow.
- East End
East End is in Saline County and has its own school district. Although it is about 30-40 minutes from Little Rock, it is perfect for people who want to live in the "country" without being far from the city.
Many people choose to commute from Sherwood. It's only about 10 miles from Little Rock and you can find reasonable housing and a small town feel here.
