Who is Wesley Clark?

From Amanda Galiano, for About.com

The Nominee: Wesley Clark is running for the Democratic nomination in the 2004 presidential election.
Military Background: Clark spent 34 years in the military and held numerous staff and command positions including 4-star general and NATO Supreme Allied Commander.
Political Beliefs: You'll have to figure out that for yourself. He is, however, a Democrat. Many articles and sites are linked for you to decide where he stands on issues.
Arkansas Connections: General Wesley Clark lives in Little Rock where he grew up and went to high school.
Wesley Clark: Arkansas' retired general Wesley Clark is following in Bill Clinton's footsteps in an attempt to become the next president of the United States.

He, of course, has a lot of military experience and knowledge. He has had many titles like NATO Supreme Allied Commander and Commander in Chief of the United States European Command, Commander in Chief of the United States Southern Command, Panama and Director for Strategic Plans and Policy for the Joint Chiefs of Staff with responsibilities for worldwide U.S. military strategic planning. In August 2000, General Clark was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. He has also been a military analyst on CNN and a guest commentator about military issues on television and in newspapers.

He's had experience in industry too. After retiring from the military, he became an investment banker at Stephens Inc. He was Managing Director - Merchant Banking when he resigned February 2003. He is chairman and CEO of Wesley K. Clark and Associates, a strategic advisory and consulting firm. He's on the Board of Directors at Acxiom, Messer-Griesheim and he is chairman of the Board at WaveCrest Laboratories, which is developing efficient electric motors for military applications and hydrogen-fueled automobiles.

I think it will make for an interesting race. He is smart, hard-working, personable and determined. Clark is bound to give the other Democrats a run for their money. Only time will tell if Americans want such a strong military leader to run the county.
