How To Register For Little Rock Public Schools

Get your kids into the school you want.

Time Required: 60 minutes

You must go to the school on the date the school has appointed for registration to register. For information(including what the date is) contact your child's assigned school, the Little Rock School district or call 324-2272.
Gather your child's information. Students entering the Little Rock School District for the first time must present their birth certificate, immunization record and social security number.
Make sure your child is eligible. Arkansas State law requires that children must be 5 years old on or before September 15th to be eligible to attend kindergarten.
Bring a proof of address. Parents must provide proof of address like a tax statement, utility bill or lease agreement at registration.
Find your district school. Most students are assigned to the school that is closest to their home but special schools are available. You can use the LRSD school locater that is linked below.
If your child is interested in a magnet school apply early. Assignments to magnet schools are filled by a random lottery selection. Students may apply from all three districts in Pulaski County through their "home" or resident district. For further information call 501-324-2272.
If you aren't happy with your child's district school and they aren't assigned to a magnet school consider an M to M transfer (Majority to Minority). The desegregation plan permits students whose race is in the majority in their home district to transfer to another district and school where their race is in the minority.

Many schools have special needs or gifted and talented programs. Inquire at registration on how to sign up.

Arkansas does have a math and science school (not in Little Rock) which takes applications much like colleges. It does not use the lottery system. Applications are available on their website (below).
