This is one of my favorite holiday weekends in Little Rock. It's the Capitol lighting. It's the only time of the year they have fireworks over the Capitol. They also have singers, a parade and, of course, lights. Last year, the fireworks were skipped and it was kind of a bummer, but the weather is supposed to be great this year.
This week also features one of my favorite charitable events of the holiday season: CARTI's Festival Tree. They have events all weekend (they actually started yesterday).
Also, it's the weekend for the live nativity in Van Buren. This is really neat and runs for one weekend only. It's free and going on twice a night (6 and 7 p.m.) at the Van Buren County Fairground. They have live animals and actors. It runs from November 27 to December 1.
Check out the holiday events listing for more information about any of these events or to see what else is going on (Santa is popping in at a lot of places this weekend).

The Little Rock Marathon posted on their Facebook a few days ago that hotels in the River Market are already selling out of rooms for that weekend. If you're planning to run the marathon, you better register! I'm sure registration will sell out soon. It's not too late to start training for the half.
