I think every day we enjoy the freedoms of our country is Veteran's Day, but November 11 is the day we've designated to reflect on what the armed forces have done for our country. There are many events throughout the state, but here are a few in Central Arkansas.
Veteran's Day Events for 2011:
- The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. in the State Capitol rotunda. The governor will be present.
- UALR is honoring veterans at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 with an honor guard.
- The Laman Library in North Little Rock is holding a ceremony at 1 p.m.
- Admission to the Clinton Library is free for military and their families.
- Lake Willastein in Maumelle will honor veterans at the Veterans Memorial. The ceremony starts at 4 p.m.
Lots of local restaurants and chains are offering free food:
- Applebee's (free entree)
- Chili's (free entree)
- Texas Roadhouse (free entree)
- TGI Friday's (buy one, get one free)
- Hooters (free wings)
- Denny's (free breakfast)
- Krispy Kreme (free doughnut)
- Bar Louie (free meal up to $10)
- Cantina Laredo (free entree)
- Olive Garden (free entree)
- Subway (free six inch sub)
- Golden Corral is, like always, having their freebie a few days after Veteran's Day. Their Military Dinner is Monday the 14th, and it's free for active military or veteran's.
