This Weekend in Little Rock - Santa Arrives, Clinton Library is Free

Follow me on:

Santa Claus arrives at Park Plaza at 6 p.m. on November 12th (I know, before Thanksgiving?!).  You can get free admission to the Clinton Library on Saturday, November 13.  Check out other holiday events.

It's time to start looking out for bald eagles in the central area (and elsewhere) too.  I've heard of many reported sightings of the majestic birds in and around the city.  I have even had a few people tell me they saw a bald eagle over the river in Little Rock.  Keep your eyes peeled.  It's a great time to hit the state parks, though later winter is peak season for bald eagles.

Other events:

September 12 -

  • Second Friday Art Night in the River Market.  From 5-8 p.m., a great celebration of art and the market.
  • FOCAL Book Sale all Weekend.  A great place to get used books is the main library, this weekend.  They always have a large selection and great prices, but go early because the books get picked over.

September 13 -

  • Breakfast with the Big Cats at the Little Rock Zoo. From 8-9:30 a.m., dine with the big cat keepers and learn more about these wondeful animals.
  • Nature Stores at the Witt Stephens Jr. Center.  At 2 p.m., learn about Arkansas wildlife. For kids 4-8, free admission.
  • Map Workshop at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. From 9 a.m. to noon, try out the park's brand new orienteering course.  There's more survival training at Pinnacle all weekend.

September 14 -

  • Holidays in the Heights. Visit Heights merchants for shopping, strolling and fun.
