A new baby boy was born at the zoo on August 29th to 15-year-old Mahale, a chimp. Mahale is one of seven chimps that call the zoo home.

Mahale is a favorite at the Little Rock Zoo because she was hand-raised by her human caregivers. She was never taught by a chimp mom, so the zoo was concerned that she would have problems raising her baby. So far, so good. She's taking wonderful care of her new bundle of joy.

The two will be on exhibit at the zoo periodically (they were out earlier this week), but they'll be spending a lot of time indoors until he gets a little bigger, and as the cold weather starts to creep in. Hopefully you'll get to catch a glimpse of him on your next trip.
