This Weekend in Little Rock
Wednesday July 22, 2009
It's hump day again. That's means I'll be helping you plan your weekend. Here are some of the cool things going on this weekend.
- Don't forget about movies in the park on Wednesday. This week is "Juno."
- The Peabody Rivertop Party presents The Venus Mission and DJ Ugly Ed at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. $5 cover charges. West End Smokehouse & Tavern presents Stark Naked & The Car Thieves for a $5 cover as well.
- Kris Allen and the rest of the Idols are here, in concert at the Verizon (formerly Alltel) Arena. According to Ticketmaster, this show is sold out. The Idols are in Memphis Sunday and it is not.
- You can have breakfast with the Lorikeets Saturday at the Little Rock Zoo starting at 8:00 a.m. Reservations are required.
- Sunday has the Heifer Moo-Vie: "The Story of Trash" from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Heifer Village. It's free.
- Grapefest is this weekend in Altus. Lots of fun stuff, some family oriented, there. They'll have food, crafts, rides, winery tours, wine tastings, grape stomps and more.
- Heber Springs as the "World Championship Cardboard Boat Races" this weekend. Races begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
- A little more morbid, there will be a commemoration of the execution of Lewis Holder at the Fort Smith National Historic Center. Talks are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
