The Taekwondo World Championships in Little Rock

Friday June 26, 2009
Today is the start of the Taekwondo World Championships in Little Rock. It's the American Taekwondo Association's (ATA's) annual convention and that means lots of fun in downtown Little Rock. This year they are celebrating their 40th anniversary.

The convention attracts more than 20,000 people from nearly 20 nations for martial arts seminars, special training sessions and head-to-head competitions.

There will be lots of exciting demonstrations starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday. You can check out the schedule on their site.

I saw some of the events last year and they have demonstrations of fighting from all age groups, from the littlest kid to adults. It's a pretty neat event. For you martial arts junkies, there's a lot of neat stuff to look at and buy.

Ticket prices vary and so do locations. It takes place all over the downtown area. Some of the big events are in Alltel/Verizon Arena, but many events and displays are in the Statehouse Convention Center and Peabody Hotel.
