Little Rock 13th Most Dangerous City
The American Society of Criminology has issued a statement attacking the study as an "irresponsible misuse" of crime data. And the U.S. Conference of Mayors today sharply criticized the study, saying the crime rankings are "distorted and damaging to cities' reputationsApparently the study ranks things like car theft equal to things like homicide.
However, it's not the first time in recent history Little Rock has ranked highly on a study like this. In April of this year, Forbes ranked Little Rock number 7 most dangerous.
According to Forbes they used violent crime statistics from the FBI's latest uniform crime report, issued in 2008. :
The violent crime category is composed of four offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault. So, are both of these studies wrong? Is Little Rock really not among the most dangerous? It's hard to tell from statistics alone. A person murdered by a jealous husband, while horrible, probably doesn't mean the city is any more dangerous. There's really no reliable way to quantify "most dangerous."
Living here I really don't ever feel endangered. There's not many places in Little Rock where I feel like I'm going to get hurt or robbed. I've lived here all my life, though. I'm sure someone from Detroit, which ranks number 1 on both lists, would probably say that they don't feel that endangered in Detroit.
Do you feel Little Rock is more dangerous than any other city?

I’ve never felt endangered living in Little Rock. However, there are some sections of the city I might not venture into after dark.
