Little Rock is one of Nation’s 20 Strongest Metropolitan Economies

Wednesday June 17, 2009
According to a study by the Brookings Institution, Little Rock is one of the nation’s 20 strongest metropolitan economies. They cite job growth and the housing market as some of Little Rock's positive attributes.

You can see our individual results. Our housing market and unemployment rates were 7 out of the 100 metro areas surveyed. Wages were ranked at 24. Little Rock is, at the very least, holding steady in the midst of the economic crisis.

If you look at the study map, you'll see that the strongest economies are in areas in the mid-south, like Texas and Oklahoma. Florida, California and the mid-west (home of the auto manufacturers) seem to be hardest hit.

For once, a survey says living in the south is not a bad thing!
