Restaurant.com For Little Rock Restaurants

Wednesday November 26, 2008
I heard one of the local news stations giving out money saving tips last night, and they mentioned restaurants.com. Restaurants.com is a good way to save money and they do make decent gifts for family members, but buyer beware.

Restaurant.com gift certificates are not like normal gift certificates. They come with strings attached. For most local restaurants, the only string is that you have to spend $10 over the certificate amount. For some, you have to spend twice the certificate amount. Others exclude alcohol purchases and only allow you to eat at certain times. Be sure to read the restrictions and think about that before you give them away as a gifts.

Another caveat is that I've used them once and my sever had no idea what I was talking about. They did eventually accept the certificate, but it took a while and a manager.

I use them often. Restaurants like Bene Vita, Juanita's, Ciao, Delicious Temptations, Lulav, The Oyster Bar and more are all participants. You can get a $25 certificate to Bene Vita for $10. You have to spend $35, but that's not hard. You're still getting a $35 meal for $20.

Personally, I would think twice about giving them to co-workers, acquaintances, clients, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to use them myself.
