More Restaurant Rumors: Mongolian Stir Fry Coming to Chenal

Thursday November 13, 2008
I just read that a Genghis Grill may be replacing the closed "Pasta Patch" on Chenal Parkway. If you'll recall, that building used to be a Fazoli's. After Fazoli's was closed, a "Pasta Patch" went it. It didn't last long. I never had a chance to even try it out, but I hear it wasn't that great.

The new restaurant that might be going in is a Mongolian Stir Fry build your own bowl restaurant, so it's still fast food. I've never been, but it sounds like an Asian Blue Coast Burrito or Moe's type of place. From their website: "Guests at Genghis Grill build their own bowls by choosing their own meats, spices, vegetables and sauces from Khan's Kitchen (a food bar featuring an array of ingredients), and then march over to a massive hot circular grill."

It's a popular chain, and it gets pretty decent reviews for fast food.

Personally, I think this may actually make it in the space because it's different enough and has the "build your own" concept that is popular. It looks like somewhat "higher class" (more so than Arby's and McDonalds) fast food which would fit in well in the area. There's lots of businesses that look for lunch around there.

Little Rock is listed as coming soon. Check out their menu and start thinking about expanding your lunch options.

I’ve been to places like this in other cities. I disagree with your comments that “build your own bowl” makes it fast food. Plus, it really does take some time, so it’s not really “fast”. It’s like a salad bar – you pick what you want to eat, then they grill it up like they do at Kobe.
At any rate, it should be a great casual dining addition out west. Know when it is supposed to open?
