Turpertine Creek
Tiger at Turpentine by Amanda Galiano
Turpentine Creek is a great place in Arkansas. I visited them a few weeks ago. The local news featured them last night too. I guess they were featured for the same reason I decided to finally visit. They normally don't have babies, but they do now. Turpentine Creek doesn't breed their animals, but occasionally end up rescuing a baby. Currently, they have two tiger cubs and a leopard cub. It's sad that baby animals attract people in a way. Baby animals just grow to be big mouths to feed. In another way, it's good for the sanctuary to have the attention.

I took some photographs. Follow the title link to see some of the big cats in Eureka Springs.

If you've never heard of it, Turpentine Creek shelters any big cat in need. Some of them have come from roadside zoos that have been closed. Some of them were kept as pets. Regardless, they all needed a place to go and it's hard to place a tiger or lion. A big cat bred for the pet trade generally doesn't get placed in a zoo (although the Little Rock Zoo has lions from the pet trade). The genetics of pet animals are usually unknown and possibly inbred. Zoos like to keep track of genes. You can't give them to someone else to keep as a pet. What can you do? Bring them Eureka Springs.

Turpentine Creek does a good service for the animals and visiting them helps them feed and shelter them. You can also adopt a cat by giving donations to help with their care.

Great pictures Amanda. My hats off to the folks at Turpentine Creek. They do a great job. All the animals looked healthy.I hate seeing such beautiful animals in captivity, but there is little choice. Abyone who can needs to support these folks through donations or going there, it is well worth the trip to see these beautiful animals.
