Park A Day: Cane Creek State Park

Cane Creek is another park located in the Delta. Land for the park was acquired on 6/10/1977. The main feature of the park is the 1,675-acre Cane Creek Lake, which is the second largest lake constructed by Arkansas Game and Fish. Lake Conway is the largest, and the largest lake ever constructed by a state wildlife agency.

I feel like I'm letting you down this week, because I haven't been to Cane Creek in a long time (tune in tomorrow, I've been to the next 3 parks recently). The last time I visited, I was about 8 years old. However, it's a great place for water sports. They call Cane Creek a "timbered Delta lake," which basically means it's filled with timber, but great for fishing. Across from the lake is Bayou Bartholomew, the world's longest bayou.

The park has facilities for fishing boat, kayak, bike and RV rentals. There are trails specifically for kayakers. Also available is a pavilion, a bike trail and several hiking trails. There is no lodge or cabin, but there plenty of campsites. You can get a guided tour for as little as $6.50.

If anyone has been recently, feel free to comment and review the facilities. At eight, I am sure I wasn't too hard to impress.
