The Arkansas Derby - This Weekend

The Arkansas Derby is this Saturday, April 12 in Hot Springs at Oaklawn Park. This year the Derby will be packed with talent. The prize? The race is worth one million dollars and a guaranteed spot in the Kentucky Derby.
Oaklawn Park is a Hot Springs landmark and a fun day trip. I always like to brag that Smarty Jones' big winning spree started at the Arkansas Derby. After the Arkansas Derby, he went on to win the Kentucky Derby and then the Preakness. You never know. You could be seeing the future Kentucky Derby champion run this weekend.
Hopefully the weather will hold out for this year's Derby. It's supposed to be a bit stormy. Like we haven't had enough of that!
