Lawn Weeds Identification Guide

Sunday July 31, 2005
In an attempt to find the scientific name of what my grandma would have called "sticker bush," I stumbled upon a great site by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. On their Arkansas Home and Garden site you can find several PDFs on lawn weed identification and some tips on how to get rid of weeds and keep your yard looking great. There are also other sections of the site about gardening in the South, calenders, information about fruits and an ask the expert section.

Turns out the stuff that's plaguing my yard is Spurweed or Soliva pterosperma and can best be tackled in the winter months. Good to know before I picked up expensive herbicide!
