Maya Angelou's Hallelujah! The Welcome Table

Tuesday February 15, 2005
I got a chance to look at Maya Angelou's Hallelujah! The Welcome Table: A Lifetime of Memories with Recipes today. It's her newest book (it came out in September of last year) and it claims to be a cookbook. However, upon glancing through it it seems to be much more than a cookbook. It combines food with family and life.

In the South, food and family go hand-in-hand. Recipes are still passed down from generation to generation along with the memories that go with them. This seems like Angelou's "passing down" to the world. It also looks to have some really great recipes. I have to try the tamales! When I do, I'll let y'all know how they turn out.
