Rowdy Razorback Fans Force New Rules

Tuesday October 21, 2003
Apparently Razorback fans are too rowdy for the city government to handle. The last game caused many problems in Little Rock. People started arriving at the stadium more than 12 hours before the game. There were about 20,000 fans in the parking lot and a lot were just there for the party, not the game. I've heard reports that couches were set on fire, portable toilets were tipped and there was an attack against a police officer. Sounds crazy!

Because of this, the city has imposed new rules for game day at War Memorial. The lot will only be open 8 hours before the games now and there are new restrictions on tent size. Privately rented portable toilets and gas-powered generators will be prohibited. They are also going to be more strict on banning kegs, bottles and open fires (all were prohibited already but the law wasn't really enforced).

All of these new rules start November 6th. I don't think this will ruin the season for the tailgaters. Most of them will have a party with or without the revelry. Hopefully this will just make it safe for people who just want to come out and have a good time.
